3 Things to Avoid That Cause Lung Cancer

!: 3 Things to Avoid That Cause Lung Cancer

There are three main things that you must avoid if you are looking to avoid getting lung cancer. The first of which is probably the most obvious--drugs. Illegal drugs that are inhaled into the lungs can be prime causes of cancer. This is probably the most-avoidable and so we will just skip over it. Let's move on to the second way to take care of your lungs--avoid cigarettes. Cigarettes are a prime cause of cancer, especially throat and lung cancer. Cigarettes are avoidable so long as you are not addicted to them. If you are, your chances of an early death are almost guaranteed. There are a few exceptions, like Jack Burns, who lived past 100 while still smoking cigars. While his store made the news, most others who smoke will not make 80 years old.

Cigarette smoke is a leading cause of lung cancer to be sure. Did you know that insurance companies will not even cover someone for life insurance who smokes? It is an immediate rejection policy for most life insurance underwriters. If you smoke, you are effectively lowering your life expectancy every day.

There are, however, other concerns out there in our world that should be avoided at all costs, and one in particular is asbestos. Asbestos fibers inhalation will kill you, slowly and over a period of many years, but still, it will kill you given enough time. When humans inhale asbestos fibers, the tiny particles enter the lungs, where they will remain. These fibers are classified as carcinogens to the human body and therefore will produce cancer by mutating the cells in the area affected. This is dangerous and the results are deadly.

After asbestos exposure and inhalation, a human body will typically contract a preliminary condition named asbestosis, which is the precursor to the deadly lung cancer known as mesothelioma. These are very serious health concerns and if you suspect that you might have been exposed to asbestos at some point, it might be very wise to visit a doctor and have an x-ray completed on your chest cavity. It is easy for an experienced doctor to tell so it should be a pretty standard check up for you, and very good for your long-term health. Remember, early detection is key to beating almost any form of cancer. Make sure you have yourself checked out if you feel like there is even a slight chance of something not being right.
